Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. Each apnea (break in breathing), lasts long enough so that one or more breaths are missed, and such apneas occur repeatedly throughout sleep.

What Marion has to say about her OAT:

Marion Since I started using the oral appliance I have been able to sleep for the first time in years without the CPAP blowing air in my eyes or hissing. I can move freely during sleep without having to adjust the straps and I can get up during the night to use the bathroom and get a drink of water without having to take the CPAP machine on and off. Instead of 2-3 hour sleep increments, I can now sleep the entire night through. If I want to take a nap, I do not have to go into the bedroom and strap on the CPAP. Since I have been sleeping so much better, I never realized how tired I really was, even though I was wearing the CPAP. My husband noticed that my snoring has decreased significantly.

My nose is not dry and my sinus’s feel much better now that the CPAP air is not blowing through them all night. The maintenance is easier too. No more need to buy distilled water and constantly refill the CPAP reservoir.

Travel this summer will be so much easier with the oral appliance. There are places I wanted to visit but the hassle of the large CPAP made it difficult.
